This presentation pack comprises 5 PowerPoint Presentations. Aim: To develop children’s knowledge of the alphabet (upper/lower case letters) and sound and letter correspondences. Just choose a presentation and play. The 5 presentations all include animation. (Shortcut for Slide View press f5 tab) . Each presentation can be used as lesson starters, standalone lessons or as a plenary. Teacher Notes also included. General description: Children recite the alphabet as they appear in alphabetical order: with letters, pictures and words capitals letters only lower case letters only a mix of lower and upper case letters (children name the letters as they appear) interactive alphabet pictures and words (a-z) with each picture linked to Slide 28 that contains a table of words linking back to each picture on the slides. Students draw lines to match up a sentence to a suitable adverbial phrase. Worksheet – Using Adverbials (1) – Students write the beginning of their sentences and then tick any of the eight adverbial phrases to finish off. An example is given on the worksheet. Worksheet – Using Adverbials (2) – This worksheet follows on from Adverbials (1) in that students rewrite their sentence but place the adverbial phrase at the beginning remembering to use the comma. This resource is on the topic of Saint George and The Dragon legend. A great introduction to myths and legends. Aimed at: KS1/2 The legend of St. George the dragon-slayer is on PowerPoint. The Presentation includes whole class activities and comprehension questions. Children are encouraged to participate in discussion about the story and check their understanding. The second PowerPoint Presentation explains what mythical stories are and why they were told (6 Slides). The third PowerPoint Presentation is on different dragons for whole class activity and to prepare children for their worksheet activity. Simple Ready-made card This is for some pupils who are reluctant to design a card. See preview pane. Print off the sheet onto card or good quality paper. Pupils can decorate and colour in and add their name at the bottom. Then fold along the line to look like a card. Second sheet with the heart should be printed on normal paper. Tell pupils to decorate the sheet with the large heart on and then cut out to stick onto the front of the card. 3 Optional Worksheets to use after assembly or lesson. Worksheet 1 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what their mums or foster mum or gran do for them. Worksheet 2 – Pupils draw four things and write simple sentences of what they will do to make Mother’s Day special. For example, he/she could draw themselves giving mum a tray with breakfast in bed and then write a sentence correctly punctuated. Additional Worksheet 3 – This worksheet is in two parts. Worksheet 2: Students select two correct blends to complete the words in the sentence. Colour by Code: Spring flowers (2 versions) – with Solution. The blends in this activity are colour-coded. The consonant blends are: br, cl, fl, sl, sp, pr and tr. The image shows words and pictures beginning with consonant blends. First version: the colours are displayed with the beginning consonants in order to colour the images correctly, students use the colour code to complete the activity. Second version: Students will need to colour in the crayons before using the code to complete the picture. Content: • Teacher’s notes • 2 Sets of Aa-Zz puzzle pieces – Cut/paste • Aa-Zz -Matching letters of the alphabet to pictures • Aa-Zz - Tracing over letters and matching to pictures Description Cut and Paste to match Puzzle pieces Place a selection of Aa – Zz puzzle sheets on tables for children to cut out and match upper and lower case letters and stick into workbook or on a separate sheet of paper. They can trace inside the letters with different colour pencils (rainbow tracing). For the capital letter part of the puzzle ask children to write words beginning with capital letters such as their name if it begins with that letter, a city, day or month, a place of interest etc and draw pictures. I have uploaded two sets of lower case letters a to z to be printed onto card paper and laminate. A lovely addition to your Alphabet/Phonic station. Aimed at EYFS/Year 1, EFL/ESL students Children practise moulding dough on top of the letters with dough/ plasticine. Children practise writing inside the letters with different colour drywipe pens. Print out as many times as you like - children can draw pictures beginning with the name of the letters. Opportunity to use as a teaching resource showing children how to form lower case letters. This comprehensive resource contains groups of word families /onset and rime. There are PowerPoint Presentations to teach onset and rime word families which contain: Whole class teaching via the Presentations , e.g. saying the onset and rime and seeing why they rhyme. You can extend the lesson e.g. which two pictures rhyme bud/bed/red which can be played with the picture cards. There is a Teachers’ Guide on suggestions on how to use this resource. The Picture Cards and Word Cards should be laminated and cut out for continued use. Lots of activities for children to do: Matching words to pictures and vice versa with the laminated cut out picture/word cards Cut/paste activities to sort onset/rime word families Sorting into boxes - read words below using phonological knowledge to sort words Write simple captions for the pictures and then color in, eg. rat on a cat, dog on a log using key sight words , a, an, the and on.
